Drive Sustainability and AIAG’s Guiding Principles Welcomed in China — CSR Europe

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) expressed its support to the updated version of the “Automotive Industry Guiding Principles to Enhance Sustainability Performance in the Supply Chain” and the “Global Automotive Sustainability Practical Guidance” – the reference documents for suppliers that aims to address the latest trends and industry expectations on supply chain sustainability.

The support comes after CAAM’s participation in the stakeholder consultation for the revision of the Guiding Principles, to which it contributed by bringing the valuable perspective of the Chinese auto industry. Based on their experience with domestic and international regulatory requirements, CAAM proposed technical adjustments that contributed to the promotion of fair and sustainable supply chain management.

The Guiding Principles and the Practical Guidance have been updated in June 2022 by Drive Sustainability Partners – BMW Group, Daimler Truck, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Honda, Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Scania, Stellantis, Toyota Motor Europe, Volkswagen Group, Volvo Cars, and Volvo Group – and the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG).

This effort is part of Drive Sustainability’s wider strategy for an integrated approach to a circular and sustainable automotive value chain. To this end, the collaborative platform provides its partners with tools like the Self-Assessment Questionnaire, the Raw Materials Outlook platform, and resources for suppliers e-Learning trainings and suppliers engagement.
